Nov. 6, 2023 — Wichita State University is home to nearly 5,000 first-generation students, individuals whose caregivers weren't able to complete a college degree and who lack the firsthand experience to tackle college life. To help with their transition, Wichita State offers a number of resources to first-gen students to support them during their time in college, including F1RST GEN SHOCKERS.

Oct. 5, 2023 - As part of the Memorial ’70 ceremony, football players, friends and families from those years received a piece of Cessna Stadium seating. Former WSU Foundation Vice President Mike Lamb proposed the idea to preserve some of the stadium and share it with the Memorial ’70 group.

Sept. 21, 2023 — John and Gail Wadsworth have given a lead gift of $1.5 million to Wichita State University and Shocker Athletics, earmarked for the Softball Team Operations Facility at Wilkins Stadium. The building is a part of the $9.65 million Phase 1 of the stadium renovation plan, which will begin development in the spring of 2024.

Sept. 11, 2023 — Wichita State University is holding a parade next month and is inviting anyone in the community to join in. Starting at 6 p.m. Oct. 6 on the WSU campus, the parade is part of the university’s annual Shocktoberfest celebration.

Aug. 25, 2023 - Wichita State University’s campus continues to evolve guided by a commitment to the people, businesses and economy of our state. As you return to campus, you will notice construction cranes, dirt moving and updates to existing buildings as work continues to elevate Wichita State as a premier, urban public research university in the United States.

June 1, 2023 — Through a new collaboration with McFarland Research and Development, Wichita State University’s National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) will expand its burgeoning military fleet sustainment research and development capabilities.

May 5, 2023 — The state of Kansas has allocated $4.2 million from the state’s budget (House Bill 2184) to Wichita State for need-based aid.

May 4, 2023 - Orel Ovil came to Wichita State University from Israel to play tennis and study in the W. Frank Barton School of Business in 2018. He is one of 10 students to earn Senior Honor recognition, the highest honor awarded to WSU students who demonstrate outstanding scholarship, leadership, involvement and service to WSU and the surrounding community.

May 3, 2023 — Mary Elizabeth Thornton is ready to put her education at Wichita State University into practice and begin teaching mathematics to middle school students in North Carolina.

May 1, 2023 — As a designer, Wichita State's website was what caught Oluwasayo Benjamin Adekalu's eye and brought him to Wichita from Nigeria. As a student, he's learned how to hone his creative skills into building marketable products through the College of Innovation and Design.

May 1, 2023 — Jesús Nogués came to Wichita State University from Paraguay because of the university's reputation for industry partnerships and applied learning. He was not disappointed.

April 27, 2023 — Ayshea Banes has only just begun her educational career as she plans to pursue her doctorate after graduating from Wichita State University.

April 21, 2023 — Angel Dao used her time at Wichita State to develop professionally and make connections within the industry she plans to pursue while finding time to care of her mental health.

April 21, 2023 — Corri Newman is senior communications sciences and disorders major in the College of Health Professions and a member of the WSU Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association (WSUSSLHA) and serves as its NSSLHA chair. After she graduates, she plans to attend graduate school to become a speech-language pathologist.

April 20, 2023 — The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University has chosen two recipients to receive the 2023 Professor Fran Jabara Scholarship in Entrepreneurship. This year’s winners are Kayla Atkinson from Andover Central High School and Caleb Lowry from Eisenhower High School in Goddard.
